Sterling / Home integration / Control4 systems
Certified Control4 dealer, Monroe GA
Control4 is the system Sterling designs every home integration project around. Lighting, audio, video, climate, and entry, controlled from a single touchscreen, keypad, or app, instead of ten separate ones.
A Control4 system does not add another app to your phone. It replaces the ones you already have.
What runs through it
Set a “Movie Night” scene that dims the lights, closes the shades, and turns on the theater at once. Or an “Arrival” scene that unlocks the door, turns on the porch and kitchen lights, and sets the thermostat, all triggered by the camera reading your license plate at the gate. The scenes are built around how you actually live in the house, not a preset list.
The interface itself takes a few forms depending on the room and the moment: a wall-mounted touchscreen in the kitchen, a handheld remote in the media room, the Control4 app on your phone when you are away, or nothing at all when a scene triggers itself off a sensor or the time of day. All four are reading from and writing to the same system, so a change made from the app shows up correctly on the touchscreen a moment later.
Most homes take some of each, not all of it. We scope Control4 to what the house and the homeowner actually use, then design the rest so it is easy to add later without redoing what is already there.
Designed at blueprint, not sold off a shelf
We sit with the architect and builder before framing starts, while keypad locations, speaker placement, and panel position still cost nothing to change. That is what separates a system that feels built into the house from one that feels bolted on after the fact.
Retrofitting a finished home is still possible, and we will tell you honestly what is achievable and what is not. But blueprint review is where a Control4 system gets its best chance.
The part nobody else tells you
Control4 systems are not sold at retail. Every one is tied to the dealer who installed it, and only that dealer can update, expand, or service it going forward.
Which is also why we can take over a system someone else left behind, once we take on that role, we are the only ones with permission to touch it.
Where we install Control4
Monroe is home base, and where most of our blueprint reviews happen first. Lake Oconee brings its own considerations, lakefront homes need reliable coverage across a larger footprint and often a second structure or dock. Watkinsville and Madison mix new custom builds with careful work inside older homes, where routing wire without disturbing existing walls matters as much as the system design itself. Athens adds in-town lots where property lines and setbacks shape where equipment and cameras can go. Loganville, Winder, and Good Hope round out the map with new construction that usually comes in through the same Nehemiah blueprint review as everything else on this list.
Every Control4 system we design gets the same crew and the same dealer of record, regardless of which market the home is in.
Who this is for
Homeowners
If you are in a Nehemiah build, Control4 gets designed alongside the rest of the house at blueprint review. If you already own a home with a Control4 system nobody has touched in years, the conversation starts with an assessment instead, see the dealer of record section above.
Control4 shows up on this site two different ways, depending on who is asking.
Builders and trade partners
If you are a general contractor or builder who needs Control4 and the wiring behind it handled without adding a coordination headache to your schedule, that is a different conversation with a different starting point.
Common questions
Control4 is the platform Sterling uses to bring lighting, audio, video, climate, and entry under one interface. Instead of a phone with ten separate apps, one for the thermostat, one for the cameras, one for each speaker brand, everything runs through the same touchscreen, keypad, or app.
Every Control4 system has to have a dealer attached to it. That dealer is the only one authorized to update, service, or expand the system. When Sterling installs your system, we become that dealer. If you inherit a system from a previous owner or a dealer who has closed up shop, nobody, including you, can touch it until a new dealer takes over that role.
Control4 is the interface, not the only product in the house. Underneath it we run Lutron for lighting, Ubiquiti for networking, Sonos or Sony for audio and video, and the thermostat brand that fits your home. Control4 is what lets all of it live on one screen.
Yes, in most cases. We assess what is actually installed, confirm what still works, and tell you honestly what it takes to bring it current. Once we take on the dealer of record role, the same standard applies as a new install: one team, one number, for as long as the system runs.
Most of the schedule lives inside rough-in, running wire and setting boxes alongside electrical, and that phase typically matches the pace of the rest of the build rather than adding time to it. Trim, where devices go in and scenes get programmed, is usually a matter of days once the home is close to finished, since the wiring and planning happened months earlier.
